HARCOURT SOLD: Long-time el-hi rivals Harcourt and Houghton-Mifflin soon will be under one roof. The Irish comoany Riverdeep, which earlier bought Houghton, is now acquring Harcourt.

PUBLISHER MISDEEDS ALLEGED: Veteran textbook author Patrick McKeown is suing the University of Phoenix for using unauthorized versions of one of his books. Two subsidiaries of the Thomson media conglomerate, McKeown says, facilitated the deed. He's suing them too.
